Google is ending support for the Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface or NPAPI. NPAPI is a technology that allows a number of plugins to be used in Chrome, including Java and Silverlight. Google has already removed support for NPAPI for all but a small number of high traffic sites. And these sites will have support removed by September 2015.
What does this mean for your customers? First, it is important to note that Chrome users represent over 20% of your customers. Second, PhotoCentral, our award-winning online photo commerce application, does not rely on these plugins and uses only pure HTML5 (since 2012!).
So…if you are using PhotoCentral, your Chrome customers can continue to use PhotoCentral today, next year, and well into the foreseeable future.
